SDPCA Community Service Day at the Door of Faith Orphanage in Baja

You are invited to join SDPCA member on a meaningful trip to Baja California where we will visit the Door of Faith Orphanage to prepare lunch & interact with the children with games.

Meet up: 7:30am at the H Street Trolley Station in Chula Vista

Plan:

SDPCA will provide food & games for the children. We will assist to prepare lunch, cook, serve, & clean.

  1. Tour starts upon arrival.
  2. Prep lunch beginning by 10am
  3. Serve lunch by noon.
  4. 1 - 3pm. Games, arts & crafts

We will be grilling chicken onsite. We will also provide fruit, salad, & bread.

If you are unable to join us but still want to contribute you can  with donations. Become a part of the $5.00 a Month club or provide us with items which we can transport. $5.00 a Month Club

Who and Transportation:

We'll need 12 people including 2 who are willing to drive. Vic will drive with a Sentri pass. Please note if you are available to drive and if you have a Sentri/Global Entry card.

Meeting Place:

We'll meet at the H Street Trolley Station in Chula Vista (745 H Street - exit H Street from the 5 fwy - trolley station is just east of the freeway).  Please arrive at 7:30am promptly. Free parking is available. We will depart by 7:45am & arrive at the orphanage by 9:15 am.

Where:

DOFO is located in La Mision about 50 minutes south of the border using the toll road. 

Costs:

We ask that each passenger contribute $15.00 to your driver to cover fuel, insurance, & tolls. Drivers, please arrive with plenty of fuel, Mexican auto insurance (purchase for the day at www.discoverbaja.com), & cash to pay the tolls. Drivers are responsible for their passengers' contributions.

Returning home:

We expect to wrap up at the orphanage around 3 pm. Groups may decide to explore Baja afterwards and perhaps get dinner together. The border wait to return to the U.S. is unpredictable so it is highly advised that you do not make firm plans for later that day.
